Sumitomo Rubber Industries, Ltd. in Japan established Dunlop Tire (Thailand) Co., Ltd., joint venture with Sumitomo Corporation and local partners, in Bangkok, Thailand in order to expand sales of replacement tires in the country which is an important market in the ASEAN region. The new tire selling company started operations on Friday, September 1.
The Japanese tire manufacturer is building a tire production factory within the Amata City Industrial Estate in Rayong Province to meet the global demand for their tires. The factory will adopt the concept of the new production system named " Taiyo" boasting high investment efficiency and production of high quality radial tires. It will start operations at the end of this year.
Dunlop Tire (Thailand) will mainly sell tires supplied from the new factory and expect to obtain a 10% market share in categories of passenger car and light truck tires through positive expansion of retail network and sales promotion.
