At the ceremony, SRI's President Ikeda gave a speech in which he proclaimed, "Looking toward the next 30 or 40 years, I would like for us to do our utmost to make Sumi Rubber Indonesia into a company that is widely admired and considered essential throughout all of Indonesia while contributing not only to the future growth and development of the Sumitomo Rubber Group, but also to the further development of industry in the great nation of Indonesia."
 Sumi Rubber Indonesia began producing tires in April of 1997 and golf balls in April of 1998. Since Sumi Rubber Indonesia began operating in the late 1990s, they have been actively engaged in production and sales activities to respond to burgeoning demand in Asian markets, while at the same time undertaking various CSR activities and implementing a wide range of measures intended to reduce their use of energy and resources as part of their efforts to protect the natural environment. Sumi Rubber Indonesia will continue to grow and develop its business while aiming to be a company that earns the trust and respect of its local community and of society throughout Indonesia.
