To embody our purpose of “Through innovation we will create a future of joy and well-being for all,” the Group has established our Vision of what we want to be as an organization, “Uniting our diverse strengths, growing together, driving and thriving on change.”
We are promoting sustainability through diversity and teamwork under the following structure of activities.
To promote sustainability management, the Sustainability Promotion Committee, which is chaired by the Executive Director in Charge of Sustainability and consists of officers in charge of respective divisions as its members, meets twice a year to enforce Group-wide policies and monitor the progress on key initiatives. We will ensure top-level commitment to sustainability promotion through monitoring and review by management in the Committee. All matters deliberated or reported at the Committee will be reported to the Board of Directors.
In January 2025, we established a Sustainability Advisory Board to integrate business and sustainability, aiming to facilitate dialogue between external stakeholders and management. To continue growing in an increasingly uncertain external environment, we invite external experts to engage in dialogue on our business’s sustainability strategies. Participants from our Company include outside directors, the Executive Director in Charge of Sustainability, and officers in charge of each business.
Since 2023, we have been operating a sustainable product certification system based on our criteria to contribute to solving social issues through product development. Products reviewed at product development meetings for tires, sports, and industrial products are further reviewed and approved by the Directors at the annual Sustainable Products Certification Committee.
Under the Sustainability Promotion Department of the Sustainability Management Promotion Headquarters, the Sustainability Dissemination Secretariat is responsible for improving internal sustainability literacy and conducting related training.
For each theme where cross-sectoral activities are effective, a subcommittee has been established under the Sustainability Promotion Committee. These subcommittees are collectively called the Sustainability Promotion Working Group. Each subcommittee, consisting of management and member divisions, is responsible for planning and promoting activities and reporting to the Sustainability Promotion Committee and the management team, among others.
We have assigned an organization in charge of promoting sustainability to relevant departments to drive sustainability-related initiatives and facilitate information sharing.
