We introduced the Sumitomo Rubber Group Report in 2018, combining the contents of its predecessor (our annual CSR Report) with in-depth financial reporting in order to provide our stakeholders with comprehensive information about the various activities of the Sumitomo Rubber Group in a more approachable format. This year, we have decided to replace this Group Report with our Integrated Report, which provides even more comprehensive information on the key points of our New Midterm Business Plan (which we first announced to the public this past February) and its Value Creation Model, as well as our Business Resources, Risks, Opportunities and much more.
Recent years have seen growing public interest in corporate activities related to ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) Management and SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals). And so, our Integrated Report also introduces various socially conscious efforts that our group has been undertaking in line with our GENKI* CSR Guidelines through easy-to-understand examples and case studies.
*GENKI stands for “Green” (i.e. greening activities), “Ecology” (i.e. reducing the environmental impact of our business activities), “NEXT” (i.e. developing next-generation technologies and products), “Kindness” (i.e. measures to improve people’s lives) and “Integrity” (i.e. sincerity for all of our stakeholders). The word “genki” also means “energetic” in Japanese, so GENKI also reflects our desire to energize more and more people through these efforts.
